THAD LU

Artist

Thad Lu is Chi Town born and raised, and he carries that distinctive touch that Chicago is known for – instead of following the trends, he’s making a sound that is completely his own, and doing it better than anybody else. Thad Lu’s wordplay and cadence elevates him above other rappers, and there’s a very simple reason he’s able to do it so well; his roots in spoken word.  He began succeeding without any beats at all, carrying the whole audience through his words alone. So when he began rapping, it was natural that his delivery would be a notch above other rappers. He is also known for having shows that have a flavor that is completely his own – he combines conscious rap with the type of music that results in mosh pits – yet the most pits at his shows aren’t full of angry people releasing anger, they’re made up of fulfilled people enjoying the happy side of his rap. Thad Lu is proof that you don’t need to ditch intelligence or consciousness in order to be entertaining. His music makes people woke – in both senses of the word. He had his head set on spoken word, when he became interested in music due to another artist that started with spoken word and transitioned into rap – the legendary Kanye West. He saw the path, and he saw that Kanye became what he became by making the type of music that no one else was making. Thus, he went on the same path by not taking the same path as Kanye, and making music that only Thad Lu can make. You can hear his soul in his music because he’s fully invested in delivering the truth. Thad Lu began generating a buzz when he hopped on Young M.A’s OOOUUU beat, and rode it better than Young M.A had.  He has been told that his music puts joy in the soul, and he considers the compliment the highest honor he can receive. He recently hopped on the beat for X by 21 Savage and Future and made it his own. He won a hottest MC award in 2014 and has only gotten better since. He has also opened for artists like Tee Swain, J Menace, and much more. He isn’t just conscious when it comes to his music, he’s a true activist. He has gone on marches, helped write grants, and performed for the Mighty Empire Social Club and Fathers Who Care.  He has recently been busy touring the Midwest, and has been working on a new mixtape as well. His most famous work yet is preThadluism, on which he takes some of the hottest beats in the industry, and makes the tracks even hotter with his bars.  Chicago has already given a lot to the rap scene, but with artists like Thad Lu still emerging, it’s clear that Chi Town has no intentions of stopping
