Today I want to talk about my favorite music genre which is hop-hop. Also known as Rap Music. One of the first Mc's to touch the and he was also hip-hop's first DJ's. DJ Kool Herc. Jamaican born DJ Kool Herc started spitting simple raps at his parties, Which some claim were inspired by the jamaican tradition of toasting.
Soon to follow came artists like Afrika Bambaata, Grandmaster Flash, Heavy D, Kurtis Blow, Melle Mel, KRS-One and the list goes on and on. I remember being a kid and the first time I heard that bass, and different lingo and slang I fell in love with rap.
I watch the music turn to a artform, I loved everything about it from the way we dressed, to the new dances that we create to enjoy it. Something about my people swag inspired me. I studied music every since then. It is my Passion. When I saw my first video it was Mc Lyte, Paper Thin. I was hooked.
Other Queens stepped up and helped her hold it down such as Roxanne Shante, Salt&Pepper, Queen Latifah, JJ Fad, Lauryn Hill, Da Brat, Yo-Yo etc. set the stage for artists today. All these artists have shaped the culture for us today.
Now Hip-Hop has taken so many turns and the sound is high quality. We have evolved unto a new trends from Trap Music to Conscience Rap to Gospel Rap. This Genre has something for everyone. We have artists that sing and rap on beats now, autotune, and all these modern ways to listen to Music now.
